The horticultural production sector encompasses many different situations with different requirements that vary both by the type of plants, e.g., protected or open field, and by their intended use, e.g., for the fresh market or industrial processing.
The variabilitià of productions therefore requires a different approach that varies from situation to situation. For example, in the case of protected cultivation in greenhouses, crop rotations will be much more intensive while in the open field, climatic variability will be a key component for successful cultivation.
